Sri Lanka has a splendid diversity of amphibian fauna together with two relict genera and one subfamily. Many taxonomic researches and ecological researches have been performed by young scientists enthusiastically for the future conservation of the frogs and toads and there are new species also to be discovered. However it is a one of the highly threatened group due to habitat loss, agrochemicals and pollution, and climatic changes.
