Endemic Geckos of Sri Lanka

01. Sri Lankan Golden Gecko        Calodactyloides illingworthorum (Deraniyagala, 1953)

A large rock dwelling gecko from the dry zone of Sri Lanka. Inhabits rocky biotope, such as granitic caves within savannah and monsoon forests and a single cave may house up to about 50 individuals. They leave their rocky habitat by dusk to adjoining vegetation by dusk to the adjoining vegetation and return in the morning. Distributed in the monsoon forests of the eastern parts of the country, such as Nuvaragala, Monaragala, Nilgala, Galoya National Park, Buttala and Ampara in south-eastern Sri Lanka.
