A scarce forest bird.Found in well wooded home gardens in the higher hills.Singly or pairs can be found,flocks are not exceptional.Horton Plains National Park,Hakgala Botanic Gardens are good inhabiting sites.Seasonally move to lower elevations and seen in Singharaja,forests in Kandy area,in the lower hills.

.Smallest member of the parrot family in Sri Lanka. Solitary birds. Found in forests and adjoining well-wooded home gardens and plantations, from lowlands to hills, Pockets of wetter forests in the dry zone. Found in wet zone including Hunasgiriya, Elkaduwa, Teldeniya and Rathnapura, Kitulgala, and Singharaja are good sites to observe. Toddy is a preffered food item of this fascinating bird.
